Step01 — Open your Google search console
Go to search.google.com/search-console
If you don’t have a google search console account yet then you can easily create one with a gmail address.
Once you open your search console account
Click on the +add property
This popup will open up and in this there are 2 ways we can add a site to our google search console.
The first one being “doman verify” and the other one is “URL prefix”
Domain verify is the Hardest among the two and is the best way to track all variation of the website and also subdomains.
What are the variations of a website?
For example : my website is venkatakarthik.com
My website variations are
venkatakarthik.com
www.venkatakarthik.com
Subdomains would be
Blog.venkatakarthik.com
Test.venkatakarthik.com
Can be anything followed by .venkatakarthik.com
If we domain verify we can verify all these variations and subdomains all at once but on the other hand if we want to only verify a variation then URL prefix is best and fastest.
In this video, let’s see how to add a site using domain verification which requires DNS verification.
This may sound complicated but it is not so let’s get into it.
Step2 — Domain verification using DNS record.

Enter your domain website and then click on verify
It’ll check the website that we just entered and provided us with this screen to add a txt record
All you have to do is click on “Copy”
Now open your website’s domain registrar like godaddy,namecheap,google domains.
No matter who your domain registrar is? The process is the same.
In my case, I’ll open google domains and login.
Now go to “DNS” in the sidebar and then scroll down to custom resource records.
In this section we can add our code that we copied from google search console.
Now we need to create a new txt record
Keep «@» in the first box and then under the dropdown we need to select «txt» and then we’ll paste the code that we copied from google search console.
Final step is to save this record.
It may take upto 4-24 hrs to update for a new site so please be patient and in the next video i’ll show you how you can verify the site using the URL prefix.
