This is a tutorial how to setup wordpress gmail smtp settings to send outgoing mail automatically to users of wordpress site. The plugin used in this demo is easy wp smtp and it also works for WP Mail SMTP by WPForms.
Step 1 mail settings:
From Email Address: gmail address
From Name: Type anything
Reply-To Email Address: Type any email or the same gmail is fine
SMTP Host: smtp.googlemail.com
Type of Encryption: SSL/TLS
SMTP Port: 465
SMTP Authentication: Yes
SMTP Username: gmail address
SMTP Password: gmail password
Step 2 testing:
After testing the email an error will pops up. Then login to the gmail account an email prompted a warning click on it and view the activity. And click «Yes it was me»
Step 3 enable less secure account:
Go to:
Allow less secure apps: set to ON
Then return to Gmail and once again check on the warning email and check on the activity. Then click «Yes it was me».
Step 4 allow the Display Unlock Captcha:
Go to:
Click continue
Step 5:
Return to the wordpress admin dashboard and re-test sending email. It should be successful
